Gare Montparnasse Tour Eiffel. It remains the tallest building in Paris outside of the La Défense business district. Via bus the total journey between the iconic tower and the station takes about 13 minutes and on the subway expect about 18 minutes door to door. The station opened in 1840 was rebuilt in 1852 and relocated in 1969 to a new station just south of the original location where subsequently the prominent Montparnasse Tower was constructed. These gardens span more than 7 acres and can be accessed from Place des Cinq Martyrs du Lycée Buffon. Id suggest taking Le Bus Direct line 4 from the CDG terminal to Gare Montparnasse. It is very well served by public transportation as the Tower itself is surrounded by no less than 7 immediate Metro stations located on lines 4612 and 13 mostly one major train station Gare Montparnasse to which you would arrive if you rode the train from the South West of France Bordeaux Biarritz into Paris and it is roughly 15 minutes away from the beautiful Luxembourg Gardens by foot. Constructed from 1969 to 1973 it was the tallest skyscraper in France until 2011 when it was surpassed by the 231-metre Tour First. In addition to the famous Tour Montparnasse which at a height of 210 meters offers one of the clearest views in the capital you can also explore the Jardin Atlantique on the roof of the station. Personally I would not walk from the Eiffel Tower to Montparnasse unless I wanted to be tired and have sore feet by the time I got there and Im not in bad shape at all.
